My BA degree was done at The University of the West Indies (UWI), specializing in social science, language and literature. I speak and write three official languages: English, French and Spanish, plus my native Jamaican vernacular. My passion is writing and educating. I wrote my first book, Tricks and Trades of the Jamaican Man in 2004, details of which can be found at http://www.vernonbrooks.com/tricks-and-trades-of-the-jamaican-man.php. However, my premier publication appeared in the form of an article - No Hard Feelings: Finding the Focus in a Teacher-Student Function - in The High School Journal October-November 2005 Volume 89 N0. 1 (accepted in 2004). During my spare time, I keep fit by lifting weights and running. As a past athlete indulging in the 400 meters, I did high 47 seconds as my personal best. I have offered my word of advice to weight-watchers in the following presentations:
